Tom Austen and his brother Freddy Carter are both Old Queenians and are successful actors who have recently played lead roles in popular TV shows. Freddy recently stared as Kaz Brekker in the Netflix series Shadow and Bone and Tom is best known for his starring role in The Royals playing Jasper Frost. At Queen’s, Freddy and Tom were actively involved in the Performing Arts.

Freddy’s most notable roles whilst at Queen’s include, Squealer in Animal Farm in 2007 and Mr Toad in Wind in the Willows 2008. Whilst Tom took leading roles in both My Fair Lady and Midsummer Night’s Dream. After Queen’s, both brothers trained at top theatre schools. Tom trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, whilst Freddy trained at the Oxford School of Drama.

Since graduating both Freddy and Tom have performed on stage and screen. As well as his role in The Royals, Tom’s various credits include Shameless; Misfits and Grantchester. Most recently, Tom starred as Daimon Helstrom in Helstrol (Hulu). Freddy had also taken to the screen before his starring role in Shadow and Bone. His credits include 15 Days (Channel 4) Free Rein (Netflix) starring as Pin and Pennyworth.
