The Forty Club 66th Annual Dinner - Cricket Award

A special invite was extended to Queen’s College this week to attend The Forty Club 66th Annual Dinner, Presented in the The Long Room at Lord’s Ground by President of the Forty Club Johnny Barclay with speakers Richard Ellison, former Kent and England cricketer and Mark Nicholas, former Hampshire captain, commentator and President of MCC.

An evening full of toasts and celebrations started in the players room at Lords with Queens College Cricket captain Jonty (Y13) and Director of Sport Tom Bell invited to attend the special black tie event with a presentation of cricket excellence awarded to just 6 key districts. 

District winners were selected as a School and Youth XI adjudged to have performed the best in all their district fixtures. The criteria for awards were awarded to those who displayed the Spirit of Cricket, individual performance excellence by skippers and players, and overall team performance.

A memorable evening with dining in The Long Room started with a royal toast with words sent to the occasion from his royal highness King Charles III tasked the attendees to create memories. It was at this moment Queen’s Cricket captain was invited on stage in the Long Room to collect the XL shield for Queen’s and receive a medal for his overall performance as Queen’s College was awarded the prestigious West District winner award.

Jonty (Y13) said:

“It was a great experience to go to lords long room and writing room, we got to watch several speeches from Mark Nicholls and Richard Ellis. Overall it was a wonderful experience and it was great to be involved.”
